Summary
In the span of a year, Kate, Michael, and Emma have gone from orphans with only the letter P for a last name to the renowned Wibberly siblings: guardians of the sacred and magical Books of Beginning. Their quests to find the Books and reunite with their parents are converging, but just as the end is in sight, a harrowing prophecy changes their plans. The Keepers will bring the Books together, restoring order to the world--and then die. The Books of Beginning are the last hope of defeating the wicked Dire Magnus, but should they fall into his hands, they would grant him the power to wipe the world clean and start anew with a monstrous universe of his own creation. As Kate and Michael struggle to keep the Dire Magnus at bay, Emma embarks on a dark journey to recover the final tome: the Book of Death, ominously known as the Black Reckoning. Judgments will be rendered, debts will be paid, and the final reckoning will come to pass--but in whose favor? The remarkable conclusion to the Books of Beginning trilogy is an epic adventure of life and death, magic, and the power of family
